Remember Me

Remember me as the leaves frown to fall
Through hazy days and scary nights
I have not eternity to spend
Remember me as my song you sing
Remember me as my ink you read
Remember me as I depart to final goodbyes

The lonely thoughts of martyrdom calls me
Ghosts of future failures I seek to escape
Successes of the present last but for a day
Remember me as my seeds become Mahoganies
Remember me as my peers whitens in hairs
Remember me as my monuments faints into memories

The foundation has slipped from the blocks
Remember me as the root parallels the earth
I ask for no more
Remember me as I return to dust

The burden of the red earth is heavy
